Allegro is thrilled to announce the expansion of our Technical Support and Training team. Our newest members Donna Hofmeister and Mike Tierney bring years of experience and expertise to the team.

Donna (aka 'd') is well known in the MPE community for her association with OpenMPE and advocacy on the HP3000-L. Her MPE and HP-UX skills, as well as her extensive experience working within a large corporate data center will augment and enhance Allegro's offerings. Donna holds Certifications in HP-UX System Administration and in ITIL Foundations.

Mike spent 17 years at Hewlett-Packard where he served in the Response Center and WTEC (aka "the Expert Center"), as well as doing a two-year stint with the Information Access project. His support duties were primarily focused on HP's MPE database products -- TurboImage, Allbase/SQL, Image/SQL -- though he has been known to weigh in on other products and platforms. Mike hopes to leverage his heavy database background by obtaining Oracle certification in the near future.

Allegro Consultants is proud to report that our own Stan Sieler has won this year's HP e3000 Contributor Award. Here is the official announcement:

Thank you for the outstanding level of response to our request for nominations for this year's HP e3000 Contributor Award. We are pleased to inform you that the award for 2007 was given to Stan Sieler.

For nearly 30 years Stan has been adding his considerable talents to the vibrancy of the HP e3000 community. Starting in 1979, Stan began working for HP on the HP e3000 product before leaving to help co-found Allegro Consultants. Although Stan has contributed to the creation of many different HP e3000 applications, most people in the HP e3000 community know Stan through his expert help in times of need. Stan will often devote hours upon hours of his own time to aid HP e3000 customers in diagnosing, working around, and recovering from a wide variety of maladies. His extraordinary technical expertise, his devotion to the HP e3000 community, and his willingness to always lend a helping hand have made a deep and lasting impact. In addition to his work activities, Stan is also an amatuer magician, and a senior docent at the Computer History Museum.

Please join us in congratulating Stan on this recognition!

2004-02-04:
Allegro turns 20!!!

The actual date of our incorporation was 1984-02-04, however, we had already been conducting business for several months prior to that, so we're now in the midst of our 20th Anniversary celebration. Allegro president Steve Cooper issued the following statement to mark the occasion:

As I reflect back on Allegro's 20 years and my own 26 years in the HP 3000 business, I cannot help but marvel at how lucky we are to be a part of this community. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work in such an exciting, dynamic, and supportive environment. Who would believe that such strong, long-lasting friendships could come out of a small consulting business? And it has been a special privilege to work with the other Allegroids through the years; they are truly a wonderful and gifted group of people.

I am also very proud of our accomplishments. We are older than Sun Microsystems, and have software running on as many continents as does Microsoft. We have weathered recessions, dot-com bubble bursts, and power outages, and still remain dedicated to providing top-notch products and highest quality service to our customers around the world. We look forward with great hope and dedication to the opportunities that lie ahead.

In honor of our 20th Anniversary a number of our long time colleagues and customers share their thoughts.

To commemorate our 20th Anniversary we are now offering a special 20% discount on new software purchases and consulting contracts. For details please see our Discount Page.

2002-09-16:

Allegro Consultants and ORBiT Software announced a joint development project called Rosetta Store, named after the famed Rosetta Stone, which proved to be the key to unlocking the meaning of the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt. In similar fashion Rosetta Store will unlock data stored in MPE-created archive files and tapes and restore it onto HP-UX, Linux, and Windows machines.

Three primary classes of customers will find Rosetta Store especially useful: Those who are in the process of migrating away from the HP 3000 and who require conversions of data to the new target platform; Those who intend to continue running their HP 3000s for the forseeable future, but need to transfer data on a regular basis to another platform; and, Those who need to gain access to archival data stored on legacy MPE backup tapes after they have retired their HP 3000s.
