Located in Cupertino, California, Allegro Consultants, Inc., specializes in software, services, and consulting for clients with Hewlett-Packard PA-RISC and Itanium based computers, the HP 3000 and HP 9000, running MPE/iX and HP-UX operating systems, respectively.
Allegro's primary areas of expertise are: systems software,
performance measurement and optimization, IMAGE/SQL (database management system), Eloquence, software migration, PA-RISC and Itanium architecture issues, and software technical support.

Allegro's roots are in the HP e3000 community, but Unix is a major component of its current business activities.
Allegro has chosen Linux, the HP 9000 and IBM RS6000 as its main UNIX platforms for software development.
Several software ports have been completed to these systems, as well as ports from UNIX platforms to the HP e3000.
As with any consulting firm, Allegro's most important asset
is its people. You may wish to vist the
Executive bios,
or personal web pages.
Allegro is a founding partner of the Resource 3000 consortium, an organization dedicated to providing hardware and software support services to "homesteaders", HP 3000 customers who choose to stay on the platform after HP's end-of-life date.
Allegro is a member of the
Adager Research & Development Team, and has worked closely with Adager in designing enhancements
for the ADAGER Image database tool. Allegro developed a program for Adager
called DETPACK, a major addition to ADAGER. This program repacks
entries in a detail data set in an optimal manner to improve Image database
performance.
Allegro previously worked with Hewlett-Packard's database lab
to enable IMAGE/SQL to have datasets larger than 4GB, and assisted in the design of Image's B-tree indexing capability.
Allegro co-designed and co-wrote the
SPLash!
Native Mode SPL Compiler (for PA-RISC), and the
Toolboxes
collection of utilities for the MPE/iX operating system.
Allegro also created De-Frag/X,
a disk defragmentation tool for MPE. The Toolboxes and
De-Frag/X are currently sold by Lund Performance Solutions.
In past years, Allegro has taught classes
to HP employees on various topics for the MPE/iX machines, including Theory of Operation, PA-RISC, System Debug, and MPE/iX Internals.
